Ray was a relieved graduate of the 8th grade in Herreid, SD. After spending his teen years breaking horses, thrashing, and bailing, he joined the US Navy and saw the world. This planted the seed that led to the numerous travels he and Johanna would take over the years. Ray was a hardworking locomotive mechanic and farmer. He raised his large family and small herd on the Iron Range. Ray’s notorious shenanigans and unique sense of humor made him well loved by all. Owlie, Shifty, Ray, Dad, Grandpa, Great Grandpa, and/ or Senor was always eager to be dealt in on a hand of cribbage, poker, or 3-13. Thanksgiving won’t be the same without his presence at a rowdy game of Crap on Your Neighbor.
