Picturing Pine City Art Show
A local journalist is putting his creative talents to a new use.
The editor of the Pine City Pioneer, Mike Gainor, is hosting “Picturing Pine City”, a local art show.
Gainor explained that the stories and people he's photographed in Pine City are worth celebrating.
A technology called Deepstyle enabled Gainor to transform his photographs into pieces of art.
Picturing Pine City’s grand opening is this Friday from 4 to 7 pm at the Pine Center for the arts, and refreshments will be provided.
All proceeds go to benefit the Center.
Finlayson Stabbing
Local authorities are investigating an assault that took place early Sunday morning in Finlayson.
Pine County Deputies responded to multiple 911 calls of an assault in the 6500 block of Broadway Avenue in Finlayson just before 3 am on Sunday.
The victim and subject who live together made the calls.
The male victim was airlifted to North Memorial Hospital being treated for multiple stab wounds.
The female was taken into custody and booked into the Pine County Jail on probable first and second degree assault.
Charges are expected to be forthcoming.
Pine City Fire
The National Guard Armory in Pine City was the site of a blaze that is currently under investigation.
Late Friday night a Pine County deputy came upon a military vehicle set ablaze inside the fenced-in area.
Pine City Fire extinguished the fire which affected the vehicle and surrounding grass.
A hole cut in the fence was discovered and the State Fire Marshall’s Office is currently working with Pine County authorities regarding the fire.

ATV Crash
A fatal ATV crash occurred Saturday afternoon in Finlayson Township.
Deputies and EMS were deployed on the scene and CPR was administered.
The rider was pronounced dead on the scene.
The driver of the ATV was announced to be a resident of Sturgeon Lake.
The accident is currently under investigation.
