Annual Fireworks Show has a Local Flair

Saturday’s Freedom Fest fireworks show is put on each year with a local flair.

Hollywood Pyrotechnics puts on the show each year, and are based out of the area.

VP of Operations Bert Rowe encourages those interested in the world of fireworks to meet them at the show.

Rowe added that for every minute of a fireworks show, at least an hour of planning goes into it.

The 2017 Freedom Fest fireworks show put on by Hollywood Pyrotechnics takes place at dusk on Saturday.

Grantsburg Airport

The Village of Grantsburg has committed to improving and expanding its airport.

The Village Board voted to start accepting entitlement funds for the Grantsburg Municipal Airport.

750,000 dollars is available through the Wisconsin Civil Aeronautics board, as long as 5% of that is pledged, and it has been, by the Grantsburg Area Pilots group.

A local airplane business is considering moving the the airport as well which would likely increase air traffic and business.

NB Sends Four to Nationals

The North Branch Area High School recently qualified four students for a national competition.

The students are part of the FCCLA, or Family, Career, and Community Leaders of America.

The competition had students make projects and presentations on topics such as bullying, social interactions, and environmental issues.

Taylor Perrin and Hannah Nagle, will represent North Branch and Minnesota at Nationals in Nashville, TN July 2nd-6th.

Bethany and Megan Kennedy have qualified as first alternates in their category as well.

Music and Dancing at Pine County History Museum

The Pine County History Museum is hosting an afternoon of music and dancing.

This Saturday they’re teaching free dance lessons from noon till 1, followed by a dance from 1-4.

Admission is $10 and it’s put on at the historical society in Askov.
