Sheriff Nelson: Pine City Shooting a 'Tragic Incident'

Update on Homicide w/Sheriff Jeff Nelson

At the one week mark since last week’s shooting of a young Pine City man, new details have come to light, including ones from Pine County Sheriff Jeff Nelson.

Nelson made it clear that the while the situation is still being sorted through legally, it’s a tragic one for the families involved and the community.

The Sheriff also thanked the other agencies involved that helped get a handle on the situation.

The call for that homicide came in just before 5 pm and the suspect was in custody at 7:30.

Patrick James Root, 17, was charged as an adult for second degree murder in the death of Timothy Hughes, 22, of Pine City at Pine Terrace Trailer Park in Pine City.
