Mille Lacs Fishing Opener for Winter Angling Limits Released
Good news has been released for local anglers of one of Minnesota’s largest lakes.
The Mille Lacs Lake walleye fishing opener for winter will begin December 1st .
The DNR has released info on what walleye can be kept, saying anglers must be sure it’s between 20-22 inches or larger than 28, and just one walleye per fisherman.
The selected the size regulations to protect Mille Lacs’ walleye spawning population, which is largely comprised of walleyes hatched in 2013.
The catch of walleye hatched in 2014, 2015 and 2016 was below average, which has lead to tighter restrictions.
