Forest Lake Man in Custody after Allegedly Shooting at Motorist on I-35 near Wyoming

A Forest Lake man is in custody after he allegedly shot at a car during Friday’s blizzard.

A Minnesota state patrol report said that 27-year-old Trinidad Garcia was driving his BMW on I-35 near Wyoming when he shot at a vehicle traveling northbound.

Authorities located a BMW, matching the description of the one involved in the shooting, that had gone into the ditch. Garcia was then arrested after a handgun was found inside the vehicle.

The man in the other vehicle was uninjured, and further investigation revealed a single bullet hole in the vehicle.

The Chisago County Sheriff's Office reported that the shooting resulted in more crashes during the Friday's storm.

In a post to social media, they said, "After our communications center began taking calls about the shooting we also began taking many calls about secondary crashes that took place just south of the scene. This resulted in many stranded motorists. We took no reports of any serious injuries."

Garcia is being held on suspicion of assault and possession of a firearm by a felon.

The motivation for this shooting is unknown at this time.
