Isanti County approved of contracting bids to take up the Isanti County Jail Remodel project that was set in motion a couple years ago.
The project will look to expand the jail’s booking and holding area, a new wider vehicle sally port and increase safety, security and usability.
Original estimates put the total cost of the project at around $1.6 million dollars with bidding estimates actually coming in under $1.2 million. An additional add-on for door controls and camera will also look to add around $84,000 to the costs.
The Isanti County Board approved the bids presented by Kraus-Anderson. The county plans on using American Rescue Plan Act funding to complete the project.
