Ogilvie hosted LILA and Walker Hackensack Akeley on Saturday.
The boys basketball team played first against LILA(Lakes International Language Academy).
Both teams were searching for their first win of the season. The Dragons got off to a hot start and it seemed to catch the Lions by surprise. Early on Ogilvie struggled to get anything positive to go their way. But they kept their heads up and kept battling, and late in the 1st half they finally got going. Down by double digits, they started to move the ball around really well, which opened up their scoring. While they went into halftime down 45-29, they had some momentum to carry into the 2nd half.
They used that momentum to shrink the LILA lead to single digits and all of a sudden it looked like the Lions were going to take the lead. But the Dragons turned things around and began to dominate for a good stretch of time. The Lions continued to battle, but it was hard to stop a guy who was basically getting shots to fall from anywhere he shot from. The lead was too large too late and the Lions fell 98-61.
Scoring
Ogilvie:
Johnny Hoffman 20
Adam Sjodin 14
Xander Kimble 11
Teigan Huffman 8
Landon Hatfield 5
Anthony Benson 2
Max Heins 1
Then it was the Lady Lions turn against W-H-A. With it being a Saturday game it seemed to throw off the rhythm for both teams. But they both eventually settled in. The Lions had a lead early on, but the Wolves kept the score close. It seemed like anything the Lions did they just couldn't pull away. They had increased their lead to double digits and lead 29-17 at the half.
Even though they lead by 12 as the 2nd half begun, they knew the Wolves were waiting for a mistake to quickly make the comeback. Ogilvie was able to maintain their double digit lead throughout the rest of the game. And as the half wore along they continued to pull away and the lead was eventually 20. The Lions continued to play strong defensively which allowed their offense to play a little more freely. They would finish the game with a 64-42 victory.
Scoring
Ogilvie:
Kadence Pierce 47
Becca Stromberg 7
Chelsia Beier 4
Josie Bitz, Ruby Beier and Luci Nelson 2
