Omicron Brings Changes for Vasaloppet 50th Anniversary

While the 2022 Vasaloppet Races are still planned to proceed this February, the surge in the Omicron variant has made the Vasaloppet board consider changes to this year’s festivities.

All races will happen as scheduled as long as weather permits, but there will be no celebration tent or awards ceremony for racers. There will also be no skiers’ lunch this year, water and sports beverages will still be available. With these changes, race officials ask that racers to be prepared to use their own vehicles as a pre-race and post-race warm-up location and to bring your own snacks while out.

The board has also made changes to the races by extending the race start time and adding the virtual option again. Racers who have registered and wish to change to virtual must contact the race office to make the change.

The board stated that the changes are to assure the safety and health of volunteers, participants and the community of Mora.
