Alex Rysdam Reaches Career Milestone in Win Over Ogilvie

The Bombers softball team hosted Ogilvie on Friday.

In what was the start to a busy weekend for the Bombers, they were looking to keep their hold on the top spot in the conference. The Lions were coming in having won 5 straight game and 7 of their last 8 and were looking to improve their section record.

The Lions leadoff batter was able to reach with a single, although that looked like that's all they were going to be able to get, as the Bombers quickly struck out the nest two. But a clutch two out RBI triple from Josie Bitz put them on the board first. Now of course the Bombers would look to answer, and much like they have all season they scored early and often, scoring 4 runs on 4 hits. Alex Rysdam would make quick work of the Lions in the 2nd, but she reached a big milestone with one of her 3 strikeouts in the inning. She was able to do something no one in Braham softball has ever done, that was getting her 500th career strikeout. They took a moment to honor that outstanding accomplishment but then it was quickly back to business. Braham would add more runs in their half of the inning. 2 of their 4 runs in the 2nd came from a Morgan Rysdam to run homer. Now lead 8-1, Braham was in rhythm and would hold the Lions off the board the next two innings. Braham was able to score 4 more runs across the next two innings and now had a chance to finish the game in the 5th. Ogilvie was not going to make it easy for Braham, although the first batter struck out they were not done. Ali Beck was able to muster out a double and the next batter grounded out. Even with the groundout the Lions were aggressive sending Beck from 2nd to 3rd and then home on the same play, and due to an error she was able to score. Ogilvie needed one more run to move the game forward at least into the bottom of the 5th. Ruby Beier battled with Rysdam at the plate and refused to be struck out. She would eventually put a ball in play, but Braham was able to scoop the ground ball and make the play for the final out and win 12-2.

The Bombers would play two games on Saturday, they would go on to win both by a combined score of 19-1.

Braham comes into the new week with a 17-1 record and still the #1 team in the section and the conference. They'll look to carry that momentum into the final week of the regular season. They'll start by hosting Rush City on Tuesday.

The Lions sit with a 10-6 record and are still in a good spot to host a playoff game.
