Blue Devils Wrap Up Regular Season with Three Game Home Stand

Mora hosted North Branch on Friday night.

Both these teams know how to score runs, but little did we know they were going score 7 in the 1st inning. The Nighthawks got on the board first, before Derek Graves was able to shut them down. Mora was able to answer with 6 runs of their own on 5 hits. After a change at pitcher for North Branch, it seemed like both defenses had settled into the game. Of the next three innings there was only 3 hits and 1 run to be found by either side. Although Mora scored the on run it felt as if the game had turned more into a pitchers dual, which was a stark contrast to how the game began. Heading into the 5th inning, the Blue Devils held a 7-1 lead. North Branch was back to the plate, and with two outs they were able 2 runs. One of an RBI the other on a throwing error, but it felt like they had finally found some rhythm offensively. Not to be outdone, Mora took their chance at the plate and made the most of it. Still leading by 4, they would answer the Nighthawks 2 runs with 3 of their own to extend the lead to 7. Derek Graves, Mora's starting pitcher, would come and get all three outs himself in the 6th via strikeouts. The Blue Devils offense wasn't done scoring runs. Despite only notching 2 hits in the 6th, they still scored three runs and were now in position to end the game in the 7th due to the 10-run rule.

Three outs was all they needed, but they wouldn't come so easy. A couple errors helped the Nighthawks reach base and even get a runner in scoring position. Graves would strikeout two of the batters and would also make the last out catching a short pop up to end the game 13-3.

They also hosted Cambridge and Clear Lake Saturday and Sunday. They were able to beat both teams, Cambridge in a high scoring affair 11-10 and Clear lake 6-2.

Mora finishes the regular season with a 15-6 record, and will play in the Class C playoffs this weekend starting on the 26th!
