Braham Falls to Upsala in Sub Section Championship

wcmpsports5

The Bombers played the Cardinals on Wednesday night.

This was not the first game between these two teams. They had met earlier in the season in Upsala, where the game went into double overtime before Braham came away with the victory 87-85. But this time of course more was on the line, win or go home.

Upsala got out to an early 5-0 only for that be to outdone by Braham's 9-0 run. From there on it was an even battle. Neither side was able to pull away from the other. When one team scored the other did as well, when one defense made a stop so did the other. There was alot of balance on both sides. The Bombers athleticism seemed to give them an edge but that was evened out by the Cardinals ability from the perimeter. The 1st half was so even the teams went into the halftime break tied at 34.

The 2nd half started out well for both sides offensively, shots were being hit with near perfect accuracy. But once again Upsala was strong from three point range, and this would swing the pendulum their way. In fact they had very few possessions in the 2nd half where they didn't wind up scoring. The Bombers tried to answer but more often then not came up short. The Cardinals started to pull away and they were in a rhythm. Braham needed a stop, which they were eventually able to get. Now it was up to the offense to get their spark back. But the Upsala defense was too strong, even when Braham got off a shot, the Cardinals were right there for the rebound. Upsala simply could do no wrong, the Bombers fought till the very end but would fall short 84-64.

The season ends for the Bombers but what a season it was! They don't have a senior on the roster, so they'll bring back everyone for next year.

Congrats to the Bombers on a great season!
