The Isanti County Board of Commissioners will continue its search for a county administrator after a motion to hire interim Chad Struss failed in a 2-3 vote at Tuesday’s meeting.
County human resources director Amanda Usher brought bids from five search firms to the board. Those ranged from $23,000 to $43,500.
The board expressed a sense of sticker shock, and opted to continue the process internally via the county’s HR department.
Chad Struss has served as the interim county administrator since Julia Lines resigned from the position in March. Struss is Isanti County’s chief financial officer and auditor-treasurer.
Usher said her next step will be to bring the topic to the Committee of the Whole for a more guided conversation about the job description and qualifications.
