MN DNR Warns of Uneven Ice on Lakes

The Minnesota Department of Natural Resources would like to warn anglers of potential uneven ice growth before residents begin taking out fish houses for the busiest time of the season.

Over the course of the past couple weeks, the area has seen everything from rain, snow and fluctuating temperatures which has caused some lakes to still have open water and impact ice that’s already formed.

DNR Officers asks that anglers check ice conditions every time before venturing out and not to simply rely on other people’s footprints, tracks or social media posts.

For more information and safety tips for ice fishing this season, you can check out the MN DNR website.
