A 29-year-old Mora man was arrested and faces multiple charges after admitting to stealing an ATV from the East Central Solid Waste facility in Kanabec County on July 25.
According to the criminal complaint, deputies were dispatched to the facility after a report of an ATV valued over $15,000 being stolen from inside a shed on the grounds.
An individual living near the waste facility reported the ATV was at his residence, and he believed that Trevor Carlson had brought it there.
Carlson had allegedly spoken with the individual about his plans to enter the facility and steal the ATV.
Law enforcement also noticed signs of a break-in at the Sheriff's Office impound lot on the same property.
When confronted by deputies, Carlson admitted to both stealing the ATV and breaking into the Sheriff’s Office secure impound facility.
He said he didn’t take anything because he couldn’t figure out how to get any of the property out from inside the building.
Carlson has been charged with one felony-level count of theft of movable property, one count of second-degree burglary, and one count of third-degree burglary.
He’ll make his next court appearance on Aug. 5.
