Mustangs Fall in Opener

The Baldwin/Woodville Hawks took a trip across the St. Croix River to face the Mora Mustangs for the boys hockey team’s opener on Friday night. The Mustangs are hoping to revitalize the hockey program that finished the 2024-2025 season 10-16 and lost their last five games including a 6-3 loss to Becker/Big Lake in the first round of the playoffs.

The Hawks struck first and often with their disciplined play and speed. Baldwin/Woodville benefitted from two short-handed goals and a big shots on goal advantage.

Mora did fight hard. The first half of the second period strongly leaned the Mustangs way with the puck spending the vast majority of the time in Mora’s offensive zone. The Mustangs were able to knot the game up at two. The Hawks did eventually take control back and finished strong en route to a 6-3 victory.

Mora fell to 0-1 on the season. The Mustangs next game will be December 2 as the welcome Moose Lake area to town.
