Plans for building a new hospital and clinic have been delayed, according to Allina Health.
In an email interview, Cambridge Medical Center president Josh Shepherd said the recent bout of hyperinflation has altered budget planning for the project, and that the original estimation of $150 million was no longer realistic.
The planning phase for the project was originally slated to wrap up this spring, but a timeline will likely come into focus once planning is completed this summer. Shepherd added that a cost estimate for the project will come after the planning phase ends.
Shepherd also said the groundbreaking that was planned for this spring is likely to be delayed until 2024.
The new hospital project was first announced in January of 2022, with construction slated to be done in the early months of 2025.
