Student arrested, replica firearm recovered after social media post prompts North Branch High School lockdown

A 16-year-old student was arrested on Tuesday after a social media post that appeared to depict a weapon within the North Branch High School campus prompted a lockdown.

According to a news release from the North Branch Police Department, the school resource officer was advised about the post at approximately 10 a.m.

Police department officers and Chisago County Sheriff's Office deputies immediately responded to the high school, and the students were placed in lockdown.

A replica firearm was recovered along with the teenager's arrest.

The lockdown was lifted, and students returned to their normal schedules.
