45-year-old Michelle Shank of Sandstone has been charged with third degree criminal sexual conduct after telling authorities she had sexual intercourse on several occasions with a 16-year-old.
The teen involved in the case reached out to a child abuse hotline on August 5th. The teenager told authorities that he'd had sex with Shank at multiple locations.
In the criminal complaint, Shank told the teen, "'If you end up telling someone, I'd end up killing myself because I don't want to go to jail.'"
While Shank initially denied what the teen had reported, she eventually admitted to the accusations.
After the charges were filed, the Minnesota Department of Humans Services immediately suspended order of Shank's license to provide family child care.
Shank faces up to 15 years in prison and/or $30,000.
