Burnett Co. Authorities Respond to Mental Health Crisis in Grantsburg

From the Burnett County Sheriff's Office:


"On March 23, 2020 at 9:18 p.m. the Grantsburg Police Department and the Burnett County Sheriff’s Office responded to the Grantsburg Inn Motel in the Village of Grantsburg. It was reported there was a suicidal male with a handgun in one of the rooms.


The motel and the apartments located behind the motel were evacuated.


Attempts to create a dialogue with the male were unsuccessful. It was reported that the male had harmed himself with a knife.


The Burnett County Emergency Response Team responded to the scene. The team breached the door and made entry into the motel room. The male was taken into custody and then transported to Burnett Medical Center via ambulance.


A loaded handgun and box cutter were located in the room.


This incident was resolved with the cooperation of Grantsburg Police Department, Siren Police Department, St. Croix Tribal Police Department, WI State Patrol, North Ambulance and the Burnett County Sheriff’s Office.
