Drugs Found at Pine City Elementary

A small amount of methamphetamine was found Tuesday morning outside the Pine City Elementary School.

A press release from the Pine County Sheriff's Office reads:

"On Feb 11th at 11:35 am the Pine City Elementary school requested the school resource officer respond for what appeared to be some found drugs. The deputy learned that some 6th grade students found a baggie with a crystal type material in it near the outside of door 15 of the Pine City Elementary school. The students immediately notified a teacher, who in turn notified the principal and law enforcement. The contents of the baggie did in fact turn out to be methamphetamine. Staff assisted the students who came in contact with the baggie in washing their hands. It is unknown who left the drugs where they were found. As a reminder, parents should remind their children not to pick up items that pose a safety concern and to always notify an adult if they do. School and law enforcement will remain vigilant for the safety of students and the community. Thank you."
