The Kanabec County Fair will bring a supercross event to the grandstand on Friday, July 24.
The fair is partnering with Berm Benders Raceway out of Brook Park for the event.
“Motocross, in the past, has been very big for Kanabec County,” said fair board member Jeremy Ringler, speaking on behalf of the all-volunteer board in an interview on Monday. “When you start looking back, back in the 90s and early 2000s, that was the big event at the fair.”
Redneck races have been scheduled for the grandstand on Thursday and Friday nights in Kanabec County in recent years.
While the Kanabec County Fair has historically started on Wednesday, there hasn’t been a grandstand event in several years.
For 2026, the fair board opted to slot redneck races onto Wednesday and Thursday to reintroduce motocross to the Friday night grandstand event.
Mark and Tabitha Arends of Berm Benders Raceway were “excited and happy” when the fair board reached out about collaborating.
Ringler added that the partnership is “in it for the long haul” to grow the event.
“It’s going to be great riders with a lot of talent coming in, back to Kanabec County,” Ringler said.
According to the board, conversations about bringing back motocross were brought up “many, many times,” but a lot of moving parts factored into the decision.
Motocross isn’t the only new addition for the Kanabec County Fair in 2026 —the fair will also start running online ticket sales.
The fair board compared the new ticketing platform to a fast pass-style system to help fairgoers beat the lines.
“It’s definitely going to be a fun year for the fair,” Ringler said.
