The Pine City boys basketball team traveled to East Central last night.
East Central started the game as red hot as any team can. They scored first and continued to build on their early lead. The Eagles were nearly perfect from 3 point range, only missing on a couple shots. While Dragons struggled on offense, as the Eagles defense were stuck to them like glue. The Dragons trailed nearly the entire 1st half, before their offense started to catch fire. Pine City started hitting on all their shots, and the defense began suffocating the Eagles offense. At the half the Dragons built a 37-34 lead. The second half saw numerous lead changes. With the score tied at 51 late in the 2nd half, the Dragons started to pull away. East Central got into foul trouble, sending Pine City to the free throw line. The Dragons hit on nearly all of their of their free throws giving them the victory 63-54.
The Dragons move to 2-0 on the season, and the Eagles suffer their first loss.
The Dragons will host Chisago Lakes on Monday at 715pm, and East Central will travel to Swanville on Monday for their game at 545pm.
