Mora High School Referendum
The Mora High School is having a vote on whether or not a pivotal referendum will pass.
The school’s referendum is whether or not to build a new High School next to Trailview elementary.
The hotly contested part of the referendum is the use of bonds to build the school.
Repairing and renovating the current school would cost an estimated 25-35 million, while building anew would be an estimated 52 million.
However, state aid is only useable if the project is deemed positive by the Minnesota Department of Education.
Taxpayers would be affected, should a renovation occur or a new school built.
NY Times Bestselling Author Visiting Area
A New York Times Bestselling Author is coming to East Central Minnesota.
William Kent Krueger is headed to Mille Lacs Lake Community Library in Isle for a visit.
The Author will be at the library this Thursday, May 18th at 6:30.
Krueger is the recipient of numerous awards, most recently a mystery series set in the north woods of Minnesota.

Hazardous Material Disposal
Pine County residents have a free place to dispose of household hazardous materials.
The Household Hazardous Waste Facility is located in Pine City and is open seasonally.
The facility which opened last year is open once again today, and free to anyone with a Pine County address.
The County specifies that items such as ammunition, prescription drugs, and automobile fluids are not to be dropped off there, but other designated drop off points.
Hydrant Flushing
A reminder to Pine City Utilities customers that beginning this week through June 16, the city will be flushing water hydrants.
If you spot city crews in the area, it’s not advised to wash white clothes until dark clothes have been washed first.
If you happen to accidentally do so, iron out can be bought from local hardware stores.
