Pine County Sheriff Adds new K9 Unit

The Pine County Sheriff’s Office has announced a new, four legged partner on the job.

K9 unit Chaos recently completed his 12 week training course before heading out onto duty.

Pine County Sheriff Jeff Nelson said the dogs bring great benefits to the county.

Chaos is assigned to Deputy Borchardt who received training in narcotics detection and street work alongside the K9.

Civic organizations and private donations came together to help fund the program since 2016, and have allowed the County to add 2 K9’s since then.

Arts Ranking is High

Pine City has been received a high ranking in Minnesota based on the impact of its art and culture.

The information is based on a study by Creative MN, a group composed of influential art foundations and partners.

Pine City ranks in the top 15 in all categories that are measured by the group.

They rank number six in the state for Economic Impact of Nonprofit Arts & Culture Organizations Per Capita.

Some local art organizations include the Pine Center for the Arts and the Pine City Arts Council.

Drug Charges

Charges have been filed after a drug bust in Stanchfield.

Deputies obtained probable cause to search the home and believed sales of methamphetamine and use were taking place at a residence in the area.

Multiple charges were filed against three people in the house.

During the search of the home, drug paraphernalia and weapons were found, along with the means to distribute drugs.

Mille Lacs Indian Museum Event

This Saturday the Mille Lacs Indian Museum and Trading Post is hosting a crafting event.

During that time you can learn how to weave a God’s eye craft.

The decorative designs are used on ceremonial shields of American Indian Tribes in the Southwestern United States.

The event is this Saturday, July 1st from 11 am to 3 pm and recommended for ages 8 and up.
