The 40th anniversary of a local art festival is July 15th.

Run by the Pine City Arts council, the Art Fest in Pine City has a storied past.

Adrienne Roubinek of the Council says the fair is all about supporting local artistry.

Roubinek added that a wide range of people attend the festival.

Registration for artists closes on June 10th.

The Pine City 40th Anniversary Art Festival is July 15th from 9 am to 3 pm.

4th of July celebrations

With Independence Day tomorrow, different cities across East Central Minnesota are having fireworks celebrations.

Pine City’s fireworks show by Hollywood Pyrotechnics took place last Saturday at Freedom Fest, but some other cities are still putting on shows this week.

Rush City’s fireworks show will take place July 3rd, while Moose Lake, Finlayson, Cambridge, Braham, Hinckley all have shows on the 4th.

Those shows all start at dusk, so be sure to get there early and reserve a seat.

DNR Fishing Bust

On a routine checkup by the DNR in the Hinckley area, an officer made a surprising discovery.

Officer Bret Grundmeier approached an angler who was using multiple lines to catch fish, which is illegal.

When the fisherman realized he was being watched by Grundmeier he attempted to hide in the bottom of his boat while reeling in his lines.

However, the boat was neither deep enough nor big enough to hide the man who was illegally fishing.
