Pine City Football Kicks off in Two Weeks

Pine City Dragons Football Card

With high school football season just two weeks away, the Pine City High School football team is offering cards for savings around the area.

Senior quarterback Isaiah Gonyea said the cards are a good way to save money around Pine City and also benefit the team.

Gonyea is looking forward to this season, where the Dragons will have a large number of seniors.

The Pine City Dragons football team opens their season August 31st at home against the Rush City Tigers, and can be heard on WCMP Pine Hits 106.5 FM and AM 1350.

Sandstone building cheaper than planned

The administrative building for Pine County that will be located in Sandstone is going to be cheaper than planned.

The bond that Pine County asked for to build a new administrative building in Sandstone was originally planned to be a 4.1 million dollar bond, and was changed to be just under 4 million.

The debt service will be paid through ad valorem property taxes, and the bond is to be paid off within 15 years.

GPAE Grant

Two weeks remain to apply for a grant that could improve and benefit the community.

The GPAE, or Greater Pine Area Endowment’s goal is to develop community resources and to enhance the quality of life of individuals and families in the Pine City area.

The funds from that grant can be used for either economic or community development projects.

Since the beginning of the fund, it’s been integral in projects such as the Pine County Sheriff’s Department for the purchase of infant keys to AED’s; the Pine City Arts Council for the Robinson Park Gazebo Addition; and the Pine City Library for purchase of new computers.

Applications for the grant close on Thursday, August 31st and midnight.

You can find more info on the grant at wcmpradio.com and how to apply.
