Next time you drive north on I-35 past Sturgeon Lake, it'll be a smooth ride.
The stretch of I-35 that was redone this summer near Sturgeon Lake has received a state-wide honor.
The District 1 MnDOT crew that worked on that roadway received a merit award at the 2017 Annual Asphalt Pavement Association awards.
That project entailed the resurfacing of nine miles of northbound and southbound I-35, drainage improvements, new lighting and guardrails.
They also employed a process involving recycling the old pavement and using it as a base for the new pavement.
