Boys Hockey

For the first time in the month of December, the Pine City area Dragons lost a hockey game. And the fans that were in attendance at the Pine City Civic Center got to watch a thriller. The Dragons fell Tuesday Night by the hand of the Vikings 3-2 in OT. Pine City went down early after a power play goal by Brady Meyer. The Dragons would answer back in the second period when Jordan Stich scored two goals giving the Dragons a 2-1 lead. North Branch tied the game up in the second period with another power play goal. With 55 seconds left to go in the game a sequence of hustle plays by Pine City would send two Viking skaters to the penalty box giving the Dragons a 5-on-3 advantage for the remainder of the game. Pine City was not able to capitalize sending the game into overtime. North Branch killed the rest of the penalty to start the overtime and then drew a penalty of their own. Cody Moline netted the game winner for North Branch improving the Vikings record to 7-1. Pine City falls to 6-4. Their next game is Thursday against Becker/Big Lake.
