Chisago County Sheriff Retires due to Health Concerns


This afternoon Chisago County Sheriff Rick Duncan abruptly announced his retirement as sheriff.

Citing medical reasons, Duncan will retire after serving eight years in his current post. Duncan was first elected back in 2010 and was in the middle of his second term. The sheriff submitted his resignation to the county board April 26th. He plans on leaving office May 4th.

In his absence, the county board will appoint a new sheriff on Wednesday. Duncan has recommended Chief Deputy Brandon Thyen for the spot, who has over 15 years of experience in the county.
