Over the holiday weekend many Minnesotans spotted black bears while they enjoyed outdoor activities. From North Branch to Pine City and northward, bears were seen in abundance.
Bears have even been reported in the southern reaches of Minnesota, in LeSueur and Brown counties.
According to DNR acting assistant regional wildlife manager Joe Stangel, “Bears occasionally come in to human contact when their usual diets of nuts, meat or berries become scarce. Removing a food source will remove the attraction.”
