Records Likely to be Broken for East Central Cross Country

The East Central Cross Country team enters the 2018 season looking for two school records to go down. Both the boys and girls teams have runners that are likely to break the school record. Those two are Craig Feist and Emma Jansen. Feist currently holds the school record and will look to break his own record while Jansen has been within a few seconds of breaking the record.

The 2018 Eagle Cross Country Preview with Bill Groskreutz:

What are you most excited for this year?

Watching my athletes run and improve at every meet. The team really becomes a family by the end of the season. They all enjoy the almost drama-free sport.

How is the roster shaping up? Do you have a lot of new players? Are you returning a lot of players? Younger? Older? Etc.

I have a lot of younger athletes this year and some new ones. We also have a foreign exchange student on the team this year from Italy. His name is Fabrizio Zema.

Who are a couple athletes that will stand out?

Boys: Craig Feist – last season he finished in 2nd place in the GRC behind Tommy Ryan (Pine City). He was only 1 second behind him.

Girls: Emma Jansen – I am hoping that Emma will be one of our all conference runners this season. She has the ability to do it.

Any upcoming milestones for your team?

I am hoping that Craig can drop some more time off of his own School record this year. Emma Jansen’s best time is only a few seconds off our girl’s School record as well. It would be great to see them both break the record.

What are your goals?

I would like to see each of the athletes grow as students and people first. Athletics is secondary.

Favorite upcoming games, matches, or meets?

One of the team’s favorite meets is the Milaca Mega Meet. They love going there and running against teams we don’t normally see.
