Grantsburg Wisconsin's first micro-brewery Brickfield Brewing opened last weekend.
Nicki Peterson and her husband Ben opened the micro-brewery to bring people to downtown Grantsburg. Peterson said, "We want to spur a revitalization effort in our downtown area."
Nicki Peterson began an organization called the Grantsburg Revitalization Operation in 2014. Its primary focus is to execute a vision of the community to enhance and promote our assets.
The warm opening weekend did not keep customers away. Peterson remarked that by the evening on Saturday their patio was packed with customers.
Brickfield Brewing has six beers on tap with four of them are brewed in house.
The brewery is working toward a grain to glass model. Along with the brewery, the Petersons own and operate a dairy farm. They will begin planting grain and hops next year so every part of a Brickfield beer will be local.
