A man is dead in Polk County Wisconsin after his vehicle went through the ice Thursday.
The Polk County Sheriff's Office received a report of a silver Toyota Rav 4 that had fallen through the ice in the narrows between Balsam Lake and East Balsam Lake just before 5 p.m. Thursday night. The caller said they had not seen a driver exit the vehicle.
The driver was recovered from the almost fully submerged vehicle at approximately 5:25 p.m. A press release from the Polk County Sheriff's Office says that CPR was administered to the victim immediately.
The man was later declared dead at St. Croix Regional Medical Center.
The incident remains under investigation by the Polk County Sheriff's Office and Polk County Medical Examiner’s Office.
