Experimental Plane Makes Emergency Landing in Chisago County

An experimental plane was forced to land on the I-35 on-ramp near Stacy Saturday morning.

The Chisago Sheriff's Office reports that the plane, flown by a 47-year-old Cambridge man, was overheating, forcing the emergency landing.

According to the pilot, the aircraft was suffering from a coolant leak. After landing, the plane then taxied to a nearby Kwik Trip gas station for repairs.

WCCO reports that the plane was flying from New Richmond, Wisconsin to Cambridge, Minnesota when the incident occurred.

Thankfully, the plane did not strike any vehicles, and no one was injured during the landing.

A section of the roadway was closed by authorities so the plane could take off. The aircraft reached its destination safely.
