Pine City Fire Truck Hit while Assisting with Crash on I-35

In a story of no good deed goes unpunished, a Pine City fire truck was struck by a vehicle while helping the Pine County Sheriff's Department with a crash on I-35.

The collision occurred during last week's snowstorm. The fire truck was one of a number using their lights and size to assist with scene safety and security when another vehicle struck the rear passenger side.

Luckily, no injuries were reported from the incident; however, this does serve as a lesson in giving first responders space while you are traveling on roadways.

Minnesota does have a 'move over law' where vehicles traveling on a roadway with two or more lanes must keep a full lane between themselves and emergency vehicles with flashing lights activated. Fines for failing to do so can exceed $100.
