Local Business to Re-energize Pine City's Beyond the Yellow Ribbon Program

A Pine City business is looking to re-energize a program to aid military members and their families in the community.

It was a desire to hold a toy drive over Christmas when Coldwell Banker Results in Pine City learned that the city's Beyond the Yellow Ribbon program was inactive.

According to its website, "Beyond the Yellow Ribbon is a comprehensive program that creates awareness for the purpose of connecting Service members and their families with community support, training, services and resources."

Pine City originally formed its program in 2010 after it was recognized by Central Minnesota's Initiative Foundation as an Outstanding Community. The city was later proclaimed a Yellow Ribbon City in December of 2011 by then Governor Mark Dayton.

To begin the process of putting the program back together, Jan Carl and Jada Osterdyk of Coldwell Banker Results is holding a meeting later in May for volunteers.

In a post on Facebook, the pair wrote, "We strongly believe in this program and how it benefits our Veterans, active Military members and their families! We are actively seeking Chair members and volunteers to get this program up and running again."

The first meeting is being held at the Pine City Armory on Monday, May 20th at 5:30 p.m.
