Pine City Schools Welcomes New Superintendent

Pine City Public Schools has welcomed Dr. Curt Tryggestad as its tentative new Superintendent.

Dr. Tryggestad got his start in teaching in Pine County where he worked for Hinckley Schools as an instrumental music teacher before working as the Junior High Principal in Pine City from 1997 to 2003.

He went onto serve as Superintendent in Esko, Little Falls, and Eden Prarie Schools, and in 2017, Dr. Tryggestad was named "Minnesota Superintendent of the Year."

During their second round of interviews on June 19, the board was impressed with Dr. Tryggestad's focus on the student's success.

"Parents and guardians all want the best for their children," he told the board. Dr. Tryggestad went onto say that one of the most important things he has learned is, "Parents are Parents. Kids are kids. School boards and superintendents have to care about them, and everybody wants them to succeed."

Tryggestad also said that Pine City is a community he really wanted to come back to and finish his career in.

According to a press release from Pine City Schools, the board and Dr. Tryggestad will be discussing a contract and opportunities for staff, students, parents, and community members to meet him in the coming days.
