Koch's Three Interceptions Leads Mora Defense

The Mora Mustangs played host to the #6 seed Foley in the Section 5AAA semifinals on Saturday night. The Mustangs defense held strong to lead them to a 27-6 victory.

The first half was a defensive struggle right away as both teams traded possessions with neither team able to score. Mora finally was able to get on the scoreboard first when Nick Nelson punched it in from about 3 yards out with 8.7 seconds left. The Mustangs headed into the half up 8-0 over Foley.

Foley started the second half with the football and wanted to start the half with points. But the Mustang defense had other plans. On 3rd and 8 Caleb Koch intercepted a pass and returned it 35 yards for a touchdown. Mustangs went up 14-0. Things were finally all going Mora's way when Foley marched right back down the field and scored on a 27 yard touchdown pass with 4:48 to go to Jack Wolfe. Mora added one more score in the third quarter on another Nick Nelson touchdown to send the Mustangs to the 4th quarter leading 20-6.

The Falcons started the 4th quarter with a nice long drive moving the football down the field and gaining first downs. When it looked like they were about ready to finish off the drive with points Caleb Koch stepped up in the secondary and intercepted another pass for the Mustangs.

Nick Nelson added one more touchdown in the fourth quarter and Mora's defense intercepted two more passes including one more from Koch to ice the game for the Mustangs.

The Mustangs will play #1 Annandale in the Section 5AAA Championship on Friday, November 1st, at St. Cloud State University.
