Man in Custody after Allegedly Shooting at Older Brother

A 49-year-old man has been charged with assault after he allegedly fired a gun at his older brother Wednesday afternoon.

According to a press release from the Lakes Area Police Department, deputies were called to a residence in Chisago City by 51-year-old Russell Palme, who reported that his younger brother Roger Palme had fired a shotgun at him and fled into a nearby field.

The confrontation occurred on their father's house with initial reports saying that Roger had broken into the residence while the father was out of town. The release went onto say that the father previously had an Order of Protection against Roger. When Russell confronted his brother, Roger allegedly grabbed his father's shotgun and fired it at Russell, striking his vehicle.

The Lakes Area Police, in conjunction with the Chisago County and Washington County Sheriff's Offices, Wyoming Police, Forest Lake Police, Minnesota State Patrol, and Minnesota DNR, established a perimeter and began searching for the suspect. After a short track, authorities took Roger into custody. He was not armed at the time of apprehension, but a shotgun was recovered from the property.

Roger Palme is currently being held on charges of Second Degree Assault, Burglary, Motor Vehicle Theft, and Theft of a Firearm.
