The Aitkin County Sheriff’s Office is asking drivers to be more cautious as they report a rise in school bus stop arm violations.
In a press release, Sheriff Dan Guida stated that drivers have exceeded the 5 year average in just the first four months of school.
It is a Gross Misdemeanor to pass a school bus with children present on the street, with a minimum fine of five hundred dollars.
The county says that school districts are applying for grants to equip busses with cameras to better catch offenders in the future.
