Bomb threat received by Chisago County election staff deemed not credible

A bomb threat received by Chisago County's election staff was deemed not credible by the state of Minnesota.

According to information from county administrator Chase Burnham, the government center opened an hour and a half later than normal on Tuesday due to the threat.

Burnham said the county became aware that the same threat and email was sent to 22 counties across the state.

The email initially appears to be from a foreign country.

The Chisago County Sheriff’s Office searched and cleared the building.

The sheriff's office is also continuing to track the email and work with the state and federal government to determine its origin.
