Braham Defeats Hinckley-Finlayson in Great River Conference Matchup

Braham welcomed the Jags on Tuesday.

The Jags 1st inning didn't go well. After only getting one hit from the offense, the defense gave up 4 runs on 3 hits to the Bombers and found themselves trailing early. Once back on offense they again struggled to get on base and wouldn't get another hit till the 4th inning. Credit is due to Alex Rysdam who, much like last year, made it difficult for anybody to make contact with the pitches she was throwing. Credit is also due to the Jags starting pitcher Natalie Stafne, although her team allowed 4 runs in the 1st, they would go the next 2 innings without allowing a single hit. It seemed we were in for a pitchers dual, and if H-F could get their bats going, it might be a race to the finish. The 4th inning however was seemingly the turning point. Although the Jags did get a hit, they couldn't advance the runner. Now the Bombers were able to turn 2 hits into 2 runs to extend the lead to 6-0. Then through the next two innings the Bombers defense was on lockdown, any potential hit was quickly caught or picked up and thrown out. Their offense was able to to once again extend the lead in the 5th to 7 runs. Now in the 6th they needed 3 runs to end the game a half inning early. The defense and pitching once again did its part, could the offense keep the bats hot. Braham wasted no time at the plate getting on base, after the first two batters reached, the third was able to drive in a run and push them ahead by 8. There was a small hiccup with a batter getting out, but Jenna beck came to the plate and hammered a hit past the infield which was enough to drive home the 2 runs needed to end the game at 10-0.

The Bombers move to 3-1 in the conference and 4-1 on the season. They'll play against one of the top teams in the conference on Thursday in Rush City.

The Jags fall to 2-3 on the season and 2-2 in conference play. They too will play Rush City, they'll get to host them on Friday.
