Braham Police Chief Eric Baumgart announced that he will be stepping away from the department after nearly 18 years of service.
Chief Baumgart made the announcement through a social media post early Monday morning and will be taking a position in Cambridge.
Cambridge City Council approved of Baumgart's employment last week Monday and was given added benefits based off extensive previous experience.
Baumgart thanked the community and his work force for all their support and hopes for the best for the department and city.
Council held a special meeting Monday night to determine a replacement but no personnel have been named to an interim position at this time.
