The Cambridge City Council approved putting an Adopt-a-Park program in motion during their meeting Tuesday night.
Last autumn, council member Mark Ziebarth asked city staff to explore an adopt-a-park program in Cambridge. City administrator Evan Vogel said the state of city parks was a spark for the effort, adding that graffiti and vandalism have been issues.
The Adopt-A-Park program is modeled after the city of Isanti’s, and provides opportunities for individual citizens or groups to sign up for park cleanup and flower bed maintenance.
Volunteers would receive necessary supplies from the Public Works department.
