The Braham City Council held a special meeting late last week in regards to changes to the city’s fire department including a change in leadership.
Fire Chief Jeff Jones submitted his resignation back in the beginning of the month. The fire department held their monthly meeting and selected Assistant Fire Chief Ross Benzen to move up to the role.
These changes came after an issue arose where names were being added to responding call lists without the persons being present in the hall. The city says the instance was a common past practice that happened within the Braham Fire Department and it has since been stopped.
The Braham Fire Department also voted former council member Ryan Davis to fill the interim assistant chief role with firefighter Eric Jones stepping up to Fire Captain. These changes will remain until the end of the year until the council appoints a permanent chief.
