Charges filed against Circle Pines man in 2024 Isanti County crash

On Tuesday, the Isanti County Attorney's Office filed charges in a two-vehicle crash on July 11, 2024.


According to a news release from the Isanti Police Department, police responded to a crash in the area of Whiskey Road and South Passage.


Initial reports were that two vehicles were involved, with one on fire. Five parties sustained injuries, and the incident was investigated due to authorities' suspicion that a vehicle operator was impaired.


According to the charges filed on June 3, 2025, 20-year-old Circle Pines man Ty Valland has been formally charged with multiple felony-level counts of criminal vehicular operation.


Those charges include:


  • Criminal Vehicular Operation — Great Bodily Harm — Gross Negligence

  • Criminal Vehicular Operation — Great Bodily Harm — Under the Influence of Cannabis/Hemp/CBD/THC

  • Criminal Vehicular Operation — Great Bodily Harm — Under the Influence of Combination of Alcohol/Controlled Substance/Cannabis/Hemp

  • Criminal Vehicular Operation — Substantial Bodily Harm — Gross Negligence (3 counts)

  • Criminal Vehicular Operation — Substantial Bodily Harm — Under the Influence of a Combination of Alcohol/Controlled Substance/Cannabis/Hemp (3 counts)


The release states that the investigation remains active, with no further information at this time.
