Isanti City Administrator Josi Wood will remain in her current position after accepting an offer from the city.
The Isanti City Council voted to offer Wood a $30,000 raise in salary during a special session on Monday.
The Isanti County Board of Commissioners unanimously approved a motion to offer Wood the position of county administrator after an interview during a June 6 meeting.
In a split vote, the county board also agreed to accept a counter-offer Wood made on June 20.
During the special city council session, council member Steve Lundeen said Wood has been indispensable in her role as city administrator.
"I think she's a huge asset to our city," Lundeen said. "I think she's a huge asset to our staff, and for every department, because she has worked most of those departments."
Isanti mayor Jimmy Gordon offered a dissenting viewpoint and expressed interest in promoting internally for the position.
"I think we've got people at the city right now on our staff that, probably, I think would be really good fit," Gordon said. "I think we could hire from within and move people up, and not lose the institutional knowledge."
The council voted 4-1 to offer the raise, with Gordon as the lone opposing vote.
Hinckley man arrested after suspicious object is found at Grand Casino
A 37-year-old Hinckley man was arrested Tuesday morning after a suspicious object was found at the Grand Casino Hinckley.
According to the Pine County Sheriff’s Office, casino security staff found the object around 8:30 a.m., causing them to clear the area of guests and staff while the St. Paul Police Department bomb squad was called to assist at the scene.
After a review of the object, it was determined there was no threat, and it was immediately disposed of.
Jeremy Korwes, of Hinckley, was taken into custody near his residence without incident and was booked into the Pine County Jail, pending formal charges.
The Pine County Sheriff’s Office does not believe there is any ongoing threat to the public, and the scene was declared safe.
Section of Cambridge-Isanti trail to close for construction
A section of the Cambridge-Isanti biking and walking trail will close during July.
According to Cambridge city staff, part of the trail near Jackson Street Northeast and 299th Avenue Northeast in Isanti Township will be closed for the month due to a utility extension project.
The road adjacent to the trail will remain open during construction as an alternate route.

Burnett County assists Washburn County in car chase
The Burnett County Wisconsin Sheriff’s Office assisted neighboring Washburn County deputies apprehend a suspect this week.
According to a press release, around 9:30 Sunday night, Washburn deputies chased a suspect west on State Road 77, where they reportedly reached speeds of 100 mph.
During the pursuit, the lead deputy’s patrol vehicle reportedly crashed requiring him to be extricated and transported with minor injuries.
Later on Monday, June 26, the suspect was chased into Burnett County after Washburn Deputies shot out the front tires where he was apprehended.
The Washburn deputies who fired their weapons have been put on leave, pending an investigation that Burnett County is handling.
