The defendant in a 2023 Isanti County murder case was convicted on two counts of second-degree murder and two counts of first-degree burglary last week.
According to the state attorney general’s office, Fredy Saavedra Olivar’s court trial lasted four days.
Between Dec. 12 and 13, 2023, Saavedra Olivar hired three individuals to dress as police officers and burglarize a Spencer Brook Township ranch that was a purported drug stash house.
During the burglary, Jose de Jesus Diaz Fernandes was shot and killed.
Three remaining defendants are pending trial.
The attorney general’s office prosecuted the case at the request of Isanti County attorney Jeff Edblad.
