Dragons Hold Off Late Comeback by Chisago Lakes for the Victory

The Dragons boys basketball team hosted Chisago Lakes last night.

This is the first basketball meeting between these two teams since 2005, where the Wildcats beat the Dragons twice. The Dragons got themselves out to an early lead, taking 3 pointers often and hitting on them. The Wildcats didn’t let the game get out of hand. Chisago Lakes was very strong in grabbing rebounds, both on the offensive and defensive side of the ball. But the Dragons kept draining threes and would go into halftime with a 36-30 lead. Both teams came out of the half strong. Pine City stuck to their game plan while the Wildcats started to open up the three point shots. The 2nd half was back and forth with neither team pulling away. A late timeout by Chisago Lakes was key, as the they started to produce a comeback. The Wildcats brought the game within one late trailing 69-68. But that would be as close as they would get, as the Wildcats got into foul trouble. Pine City hit on all their late free throws and would edge out a victory 72-68.

Pine City moves to 3-0 on the season. They play against the Vikings in North Branch tonight. Tip off for that game is at 715pm.
